Welcome to the Itian.com. You’re probably wondering “what the heck is an itian?” Very simple. By trade, I’m a registered dietitian, licensed esthetician, and am 100% Russian (for my fellow Ruskis, yes I do know Brighton Beach well, and my grandmother did make Borscht soup every week for about 15 years of my life). When creating my site, I figured why make it complicated or try to make up something ultra-creative when I’m not?? From there the itian.com was born. What would a blog be without some background and personal information? My name is Ruth and I live in fabulous New York City. Mind you, I just recently moved here, and following in Carrie Bradshaw’s footsteps, I’m starting my life over in my early 30’s in the Big Apple. I’ve been passionate about nutrition for a long time. Reason? Well I love to eat (who doesn’t). But I’ve also been a type 1 diabetic since I was 16. That in itself should be enough of a reason. It’s not. And I don’t want anyone reading this to think that I’m going to be drilling you with low carb, low fat information and recipes all day! Nor do I want this to only relate to people with diabetes. I live with this condition, but it doesn’t run my life. And the skincare part? To be fair, they kind of go hand in hand. I remember going to a seminar on homeopathic remedies and nutrition one summer. Now, I don’t necessarily agree on treating certain conditions with the bark of a tree or what not. However, it was interesting to learn about how our skin can directly be influenced by certain vitamins, minerals, and supplements we take. So I started thinking, why not combine the two? Why not take what I enjoy, studied, live with and work on and create a place to share it? If certain foods we eat can help us look younger, fresher, and ultimately be healthier, I’d prefer to do that than buy a $200 dollar cream (although it happens). Anyways, this is how it all began. It’s taken me a while to get here, but I’ve arrived. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and there’s only so much my family and friends want to try or hear! The next step is sharing it with all of you. Comments, opinions, and questions are always welcome. Thanks for checking out theitian.com!
